Steps To Take If You Are A Victim:
1) Immediately call the billing company and let them know. But most credit card company will know before you do.
2) Call the credit bureau (or bureaus) to verify any and all fraudalent activity. And also flag your account.
3) File a police report. (I didn’t do this but you should if you have issues and multiple accounts opened)

2. Trans Union: 1 800 663-9980 (Quebec residents contact 1 877 713-3393)
How To Protect Yourself From Identity Theft:
1) Flag your account with the credit bureaus
2) Shred documents that contain your personal information.
3) Keep your documents in a secure place and carry only what you need with you.
4) Keep your antivirus and malware protection updated and scan you computer regularly (1 quick scan/week, 1 full scan/month)
5) When shopping or banking online, keep an eye out to ensure that the website’s URL contains “https” as this indicates it’s secure.
6) Make that your mobile device is password-protected.
7) Use strong passwords and make sure that they are different for every site.
